Americans Sound Off About Social Security - For Our Grandchildren

WHAT IS WRONG WITH SOCIAL SECURITY TODAY?

Biagio, Real Estate Attorney, 34, New York

"A major fault of the current Social Security system is that the tax payer is precluded from bequeathing, willing or gifting his or her Social Security credit; a major windfall to a government that does not allow the taxpayer to have any say or control over the highest mandatory form of taxation. The existing system inherently burdens current tax paying citizens as it fails future generations."

  Scott, Sales 36, Oregon

"Everyone knows Social Security is in trouble. If we don't fix Social Security now we will have nothing for our children's future. It needs to happen in this generation or it will be too late."

  Roger, Teacher, 53, Texas

"The problem with Social Security is that we have let the government use the social fund as a source of revenue to fund programs rather than raise taxes or cut spending in other areas. We owe it to future generations to ask Congress to start paying back to the Social Security the money that it has taken."
