OUR MISSION:

The mission of For Our Grandchildren is to educate the American people concerning the urgent need for Social Security reform and the reform options available and to ensure an honest and open debate of the facts.

 
WHAT WE BELIEVE:

The Social Security system is in trouble. For over 70 years it has provided retirement benefits to hard working Americans. But Social Security has demographic, economic, and structural problems that must be addressed soon.

Failure to act mean, our kids will face changes that are large and abrupt and younger workers will face large tax increases or huge benefit cuts.

Social Security is not a Republican program or a Democratic program. It's an American program and improvements to the program should be done in a bipartisan way.

For Our Grandchildren urges everyone concerned with the future of Social Security to do the responsible thing and exceed expectations by moving forward in a bipartisan way.

 
OUR PRINCIPLES:

Because Social Security will begin running a deficit in 2017 and will ultimately be unable to pay promised benefits to future retirees, and

Because if nothing is done, the government will have to raise taxes, cut spending, borrow money and increase the debt, and/or cut benefits drastically,

		We must guarantee the promised benefits for the current and nearly retired.
		Workers should own their own accounts - not the government.
		A government safety net should ensure a minimum retirement benefit.
		There should be no payroll tax increase.
		Workers should have the option of investing in individual protected accounts.
