THE FOR OUR GRANDCHILDREN TEAM:
Leanne Abdnor, President of For Our Grandchildren, was a member of the President?s Commission to Strengthen Social Security and founder of the Alliance for Worker Retirement Security (a Washington, D.C. coalition for Social Security reform). Lea is also Executive Director of Women for a Social Security Choice.
Heidi Neel Biggs, Executive Director of For Our Grandchildren, has been a leader and an organizer in the Social Security reform movement for ten years. She is also senior policy analyst with the American Institute for Full Employment, from which For Our Grandchildren was created. Heidi earned her J.D. from Willamette University College of Law and B.S. in Communications from Northwestern University.
James Hamilton, National Director of For Our Grandchildren, possesses extensive experience in Social Security outreach, coalition building, and grassroots organization, which includes work at the Heritage Foundation and Economic Security 2000. He also served as legislative assistant to former U.S. Representative Charles W. Stenholm (D-TX), a leader of the Social Security reform movement on Capitol Hill.
Tim Penny, Chairman of For Our Grandchildren?s National Advisory Council, is a former Democratic Congressman from Minnesota (1983-1995). Tim served as a member of the bipartisan President's Commission to Strengthen Social Security. Tim is a senior fellow at the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota.
Charles W. Stenholm, former Congressman Charles W. Stenholm (D-TX) serves as a spokesman and advisor for For Our Grandchildren. A 26-year veteran of Capitol Hill, Charlie was the leading Democratic Member of the House of Representatives to draft and sponsor Social Security reform legislation. Speaking several years ago about his obligation to his own grandchildren to address the Social Security system?s financial shortfalls, Stenholm's remarks became the basis for For Our Grandchildren.
